A crewed charter is a yacht (sailing or motor), which has crew. You are not required to assist in the operation of the yacht.
Yes, you will have to pay a deposit on making the booking with the yacht charter operator. Before heading out to sea you will also have to pay a refundable security deposit on the yacht with a credit card but this can be covered by insurance that you can buy ahead of the trip.
